Greg Borca

Greg Borca

Chief Executive Officer

Known as an innovator in the benefit management industry, Greg Borca brings an incredible wealth of knowledge, proven leadership skills, and track record of original thinking to his role as Chief Executive Officer of Ocular Benefits. He sets the overall strategic direction for the company and carries primary responsibility for ensuring its growth and success.

Mr. Borca’s business experience and leadership expertise have helped him to motivate highly talented teams to exceed even their own expectations in order to pioneer more effective strategies for benefit management. By pairing state-of-the-art technology with innovative business models, he has drastically reduced costs while improving the overall experience for members and providers. He has also driven the creation of innovative outreach tactics that increase member access to care.

Mr. Borca has deep roots as an entrepreneur, having co-founded and led several successful companies, including Doral Dental USA. Under his leadership the SKYGEN USA family of companies, which includes Wonderbox Technologies, Scion Dental, and Vestica Healthcare, have expanded rapidly into positions of market leadership.

Mr. Borca holds a Bachelor’s in Organization and Leadership from Marquette University. He formally served on the national board for Voices for America’s Children, an organization that advocates for the well-being of children at the federal, state and local levels of government.

Mr. Borca was named an Entrepreneur of the Year in 2003 by Ernst & Young. In 2004 he was named on The Business Journal’s “40 under 40” list. In 2011 he received a Distinguished Alumnus Award from Marquette University’s College of Professional Studies.

John Schaak

As President of Ocular Benefits, John Schaak is responsible for ensuring the company’s payer clients continue to receive the innovative thinking, efficiency and high value of an integrated vision benefit management solutions organization. This includes continuing to leverage its unique technology, the Enterprise System, to significantly reduce the costs of delivering vision benefits.

Mr. Schaak brings extensive leadership experience to his position, including filling a similar role as President of Scion Dental, another SKYGEN USA company. Prior to joining Ocular Benefits, he was a Partner with the national law firm Quarles & Brady. Mr. Schaak is an experienced speaker who, among other things, has addressed national insurance industry conferences to share his vision of “The Insurance Company of the Future.” He is also actively involved in initiatives to reduce instances of fraud, waste, and abuse, especially as they affect children receiving care through Medicaid programs.

Mr. Schaak serves on the Board of Directors for the Wells Street Academy, which is a school for children with special needs. During his time as a practicing attorney, he also created and oversaw an award-winning truancy court program that continues to provide pro bono legal assistance to students.

Mr. Schaak has been listed on the Wisconsin Super Lawyers, Rising Stars list multiple times. He holds a Juris Doctorate from Marquette University Law School. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

As SKYGEN USA’s Chief Growth Officer, Lance Stewart is a champion for the company’s technology-enabled solutions, bringing new and innovative products and services to existing clients and markets as well as exploring new opportunities created by the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. He is focused on helping payers and delivery systems transform their organizations by taking advantage of everything from large enterprise administration and technology initiatives to individual point solutions that solve specific needs. With his strong commitment to exemplary client service and collaborative approach to both internal and external relationships, Mr. Stewart has a demonstrated ability to help players in the healthcare continuum grow their businesses while reducing costs, improving operations, and serving their members more effectively.

Mr. Stewart has an extensive background in helping organizations add new customers, enter new markets, and launch new products and services. He joins SKYGEN USA from Medecision, a leading software as a service (SaaS) population health and risk management company, where he was Senior Vice President and Market President. Prior to that, he held positions as Vice President at GNS Healthcare; Vice President, Healthcare Payers, Providers, and Infomediaries at eMids Technologies; and Senior Sales Executive at McKesson Health Solutions.

Mr. Stewart holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Tulsa. He has also served in leadership roles for multiple healthcare associations, such as America Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) and HIMSS, to drive improvements and innovation across payers, providers, and their constituencies.

As Vice President of Business Development for Ocular Benefits, Mark Borca is the initial point of contact for new clients and prospects, with responsibility for ensuring the company continues to grow its revenue and client base. He is also responsible for making current clients aware of new product offerings that will help them increase revenue, become more efficient, and serve their members more effectively.

Mr. Borca has been performing in this capacity for Ocular Benefits since the first company was founded in 2013. His 20 years’ total experience in benefit management, with a specialty in government programs that includes provider network contracting, client management, provider compensation, and risk management strategies, gives him a unique understanding of the challenges clients face in an increasingly difficult market. Additionally, the extensive knowledge and experience he has accumulated about Medicaid managed care programs, at Ocular Benefits, Scion Dental, and previously at Doral Dental, makes him an invaluable asset throughout the business development cycle.

Over the past 20 years, Mr. Borca has proven his ability to deliver results across a variety of roles. It is what makes him ideally suited to working as a strong advocate for both Ocular Benefits and its clients.

How is Ocular Benefits able to reduce overall cost?

Our operations are built on a state-of-the-art technology platform developed by our sister company, Wonderbox Technologies. The Enterprise System is flexible, customizable, and designed to efficiently administer managed eye care programs. Our solution brings automation to claims management, provider credentialing, network management, utilization management and other administrative functions. We accept full health plan delegation for these functions.

Do you have flexibility with reimbursement models?

Yes. We currently administer many different fee models ranging from traditional fee-for-service to full-risk capitation with many variations and reimbursement hybrids. We will customize the medical delivery and fee model to meet the specific needs of the health plan or payer.

How can Ocular Benefits compete in the fast-paced retail environment?

We offer a unique, web-based portal for providers to manage administrative tasks associated with patient care with accuracy and efficiency. Our portal enables providers to verify specific patient benefits, submit claims for eye exams and enter prescription information. They’re also able to order vision supplies, such as eye glasses and contact lens, for members at the point of purchase. Our system transmits all of this information directly to a designated lab for fulfillment.

How can Ocular Benefits help improve our HEDIS scores?

Our solution provides several strategies that lead to a healthier member population and improved health plan performance, including wellness programs, access to preventative tests and prevention of redundant tests as well as comprehensive, customizable reporting.

Can you really create a paperless process?

Yes. The Enterprise System is designed to support paperless workflows through web-based architecture, built-in document management system, and fully integrated self-service web portals. Our paperless environment is one of the fundamental ways we maintain low administrative costs.

What steps do you take to prevent fraud?

All providers complete a fraud prevention training course. In addition, we leverage our innovative technology platform for further analysis of fraud circumvention and to detect utilization outliers.
